COVID-19 Updates

The NIA Board of Directors are actively monitoring local and state guidance regarding beach operations to keep our members safe.  These updates are subject to change as the 2023 season progresses.

Please email us any COVID related questions or concerns and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Will NIA beaches have limited capacity in the 2023 season?

No– we have lifted the 2020 capacity limits.

Can I bring a guest?

Yes- You must remain present with your guest at all times.

Do I have to wear a mask at NIA beaches?

As of May 29, 2021 fully vaccinated individuals in Massachusetts are no longer required to wear a mask in outdoor/public spaces. We will be following these state recommendations for all NIA beaches. Fully vaccinated members are not required to wear a mask. Unvaccinated members should wear a mask when unable to socially distance from others on the beach. This will be based on the honor policy.

We want to highlight that each member’s personal risk tolerance and comfort level will vary, please be considerate of other’s choices. We ask members to follow the opening guidelines, act responsibly/neighborly and have patience with each other’s comfort level.

Will the beaches remain carry in / carry out?

Yes – the removal of trash receptacles from NIA beaches was initially in response to COVID measures, however there has been overwhelming support from NIA members to keep this change. NIA board of directors voted at the end of 2020 season to keep the carry in /carry out policy going forward.

Will I need to bring my membership card?

Yes– You may be asked by one of the Board of Directors to show your membership card at any time.
